Privacy and terms

Two documents on one page. The first covers what InterHive collects when you contact me and what you can ask me to do about it. The second covers the terms that apply to using this site and to working with me.

Both are written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email me and I will explain it properly.

Document 01

Privacy and your information

Written to meet my obligations under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

01

Who is responsible

InterHive is the responsible party for the personal information described on this page. That means I decide what gets collected and what happens to it, and I am accountable for it.

Information Officer Usenathi Duma
Contact theinterhive@gmail.com

That address reaches the person accountable for everything on this page.

02

What I collect

I only collect what I need in order to answer the specific inquiry you send me. There is no account to create, no tracking-based profiling, and nothing gathered quietly in the background. If you do not fill in a form, I do not collect anything about you.

One form on this site collects information, and this is all of it.

Contact form

  • Your name
  • Your business name, if you give one. This field is optional.
  • Your email address
  • Whatever you write in the message box

If a field is not on that list, I am not collecting it. Where a form has a free-text box, whatever you choose to type into it is up to you, so please only include what is relevant to your inquiry.

03

Why I collect it

Solely to respond to your inquiry, prepare a quote, and deliver the service you asked for. That is the entire purpose.

I do not use it for marketing. I do not add you to a mailing list. I do not sell it, and I do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. If I ever wanted to use your information for something outside the purpose above, I would ask you first and you would be free to say no.

04

Who else can see it

Two companies process this information on my behalf. They are named here because you are entitled to know exactly who handles it.

Netlify Hosting and form processing

Netlify hosts this website and runs the form handling. When you submit a form it reaches Netlify's form service first, and I read it from there.

Google (Gmail) Email delivery

Notification emails are delivered to a Gmail address, so Google stores and processes those messages as part of providing email to me.

Both act as operators, which means they handle your information to provide hosting and email to me and for nothing else. Neither is permitted to use it for their own purposes.

05

Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask me at any time to do any of the following.

  • Access. Tell you what personal information I hold about you.
  • Correct. Fix anything that is wrong, incomplete or out of date.
  • Delete. Remove your personal information from my records.

Email theinterhive@gmail.com and tell me which one you want. You do not need to give a reason, quote this page, or use any particular wording. I will confirm in writing once it is done.

06

How long I keep it

Only as long as I need it to respond to and fulfil your inquiry. Once that is finished and there is no ongoing work between you and me, it is deleted.

If you want it deleted sooner than that, ask me and I will delete it.

07

Security

I take reasonable technical measures to protect what you send me.

  • The site is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit is encrypted in transit
  • Every form carries spam filtering, which keeps automated submissions out
  • Access to submissions is limited to the people who need it to answer you

No system is perfect and I am not going to claim otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects your personal information, I will tell you and I will report it as required.

08

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, email theinterhive@gmail.com first. I would much rather hear about it and fix it directly.

If that does not resolve it, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. You can do that whether or not you have come to me first.

Changes to this page

If what I collect or how I handle it changes, I will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and I hold your contact details, I will tell you directly rather than expecting you to notice.

Document 02

Terms of use

The terms that apply to using this site and to working with InterHive.

01

Acceptance

Using this site means you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

There is nothing to sign and no box to tick. Reading the pages, looking at the pricing or sending me an inquiry all count as accepting what is on this page.

02

What I do

InterHive is an independent consulting practice run by one person. There are two things on offer, and the second one is optional.

The audit A two-week operations audit, at a fixed fee

Two weeks inside a business, followed by a findings document that costs each bottleneck in rands per year, and a presentation of it. There is no obligation to engage further afterwards.

Implementation Optional, and quoted separately

Building the systems that address the findings. This is a separate engagement, scoped and quoted after the audit, either per engagement or on a monthly retainer.

About the pricing on this site

Any price shown here is indicative. It is published to give you a realistic sense of what things cost, not to lock either side in. The number that actually counts is the one in a written quote or a signed agreement, and prices can change until that point.

03

No guaranteed outcomes

I cannot guarantee specific results, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

That includes, but is not limited to:

  • A particular saving, or a particular return on what you spend with me
  • That every bottleneck an audit finds can be fixed economically, or at all
  • A timeframe in which any recommendation pays for itself

The rand figures in an audit are estimates built from the evidence available during those two weeks. They are my honest working assessment, not a forecast and not a warranty. Any figure of that kind on this site describes either a goal the work is built around or a result observed elsewhere in the field, and none of it is a promise about what will happen in your case. What I commit to is the work itself: the analysis, the systems I build, and the judgment behind both.

04

Intellectual property

The content, design and branding on this site belong to InterHive. That covers the writing, the diagrams, the layout, the InterHive name and the logo.

Please do not copy, republish or reuse any of it without my permission. If there is something you want to use, ask me. I am usually happy to say yes.

Anything I produce for you under a paid engagement, such as a findings document or a system built for your business, is covered by that agreement rather than by this page.

05

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, InterHive is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of this site or of my services. That means knock-on losses such as lost profits, lost business, lost data or lost opportunity that follow from something else going wrong.

Nothing on this page limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

06

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.

07

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this site at the time of your inquiry or engagement is the version that applies to it.

I will not change the terms of something already agreed with you without discussing it with you first.

08

Contact

Any questions about these terms go to the same address as everything else.
